Replenishment of the groundwater body of Medina del Campo through water distribution from the Magazos reservoir (Ávila)

In the European Project LIFE Program (LIFE 16/IP/ES/019), several actions are planned for the recovery of the groundwater body of Medina del Campo, currently in a situation of overexploitation, through the artificial recharge of the aquifer. One of the proposed actions consists of derivating water from the Adaja river, taking advantage of the existing infrastructure through the watering network of the Community of Irrigators of the Adaja River.

Description of the Works:

INDEPRO has drafted the “Project for the recharge works of the groundwater body of Medina del Campo by means of water derivation from the reservoir of Magazos river (Ávila)", which considers the recharge through the natural watercourses taking advantage of its infiltration capacity during its course, taking water from the reservoir of Magazos (Ávila), in the municipality of Nava de Arévalo, to the Narros pond, and then to the La Vega watercourse, Aloberas watercourse and finally to the Zapardiel River.
