INDEPRO organizes a conference in Zamora on climate change in the Duero basin
In the session organized by INDEPRO for the CHD, in the frame of the configuration of the new Hydrological Plan, the different water agents have analyzed the proposals on resource allocation and guarantee of uses included in the provisional Outline of Important Issues.
The latest climate scenarios from the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) indicate that for Spain annual rainfall will decrease and temperatures will increase. In the Duero basin, these studies estimate a reduction in runoff of 11% over an interval of half a century. In this context, it is essential to incorporate risk and uncertainty analysis criteria into the water management of the basin in order to guarantee the uses and good condition of the ecosystems that are legally required.
