Update of the preliminary flood risk assessment of the Duero River Basin Demarcation

In accordance with the mandate established in Directive 2000/60/EC (Water Framework Directive (WFD)), it establishes a Community framework for action in the field of water policy and Directive 2007/60/EC on Flood Risk Assessment and Management, which introduces new standards to be taken into account for the protection of the public water domain and for flood risk management for the protection of people and property.

This Directive imposes an obligation on member states to perform the following task:
  • Preliminary Flood Risk Assessment (PFRA) and Identification of Areas of Potential Significant Flood Risk (ARPSI). December 2011, to be updated no later than December 2018 and every 6 years thereafter.

Description of the Works:

INDEPRO has carried out the review and update of the preliminary flood risk assessment of the “Demarcación Hidrográfica del Duero" and the report update to the European Commission (reporting), corresponding to the 2nd cycle of the Floods Directive.

 

Preliminary Flood Risk Assessment (PFRA) revision process has identified and pre-selected Areas of Significant Potential Flood Risk (ARPSIs), according to the characteristics of the basin.
