Updating of the preliminary flood risk assessment and of the reporting of the Duero River Basin Demarcation

In compliance with the term established in Directive 2000/60/EC (Water Framework Directive (DMA)), it establishes a community framework for action in the field of water policy, and Directive 2007/60/EC on the Assessment and Management of Flood Risks introduces new criteria to take into account for the protection of the public hydraulic domain and for the management of flood risks for the protection of people and property.

This Directive orders Member States to carry out the following task:

• Preliminary Flood Risk Assessment (PFRA) and Identification of Areas with Significant Potential Flood Risk (ASPFR) – December 2011, with updates no later than December 2018 and every 6 years thereafter.

Objeto del Contrato

Indepro has reviewed and updated the preliminary flood risk assessment of the Duero River Basin Demarcation, and updated the report sent to the European Commission (reporting), corresponding to the 2nd cycle of the Flood Directive.


The PFRA review process has resulted in the identification and preselection of several Areas of Significant Potential Risk of Flooding (ASPFR), according to the characteristics of the basin.
